TSRC x oNiD TCR World Tour Season Review

In collaboration with oNiD Racing, we hosted a championship to remember with the TCR World Tour. This touring car series followed a two-race sprint format across a six-round calendar, taking drivers around some of the best circuits in the virtual world, from the prestigious Silverstone Circuit to the bumps of Sebring International Raceway.

To add some extra spice, the cars were given a performance boost of 50kg less weight and 10% more power. This made for a unique challenge, even for drivers familiar with the class, as the cars were more lively and tyre management became more important than ever.

A new scoring system was also introduced for the first time. Drivers could drop their worst result up until the final round, but the final round itself could not be dropped, so every result and mistake counted. Despite the split into Pro and Am classes, both championships came down to the wire, proving that no matter the skill level, the tension was just as high.

Am Championship

The Am class saw multiple drivers in contention for the title, with an impressive six different race winners: James Stone Radford, Tom Shipston, Ash Hill, Paul Simms, Aidan Howard and Reece Tarren.

Radford and Shipston were the most consistent drivers, scoring plenty of podiums throughout the season, and they went into the final round as the favourites. Radford held a 16 point lead, but with no dropscore it would only take one bad result to lose the title. The trickiest conditions of the season at Sebring, with a drying track, made that more than possible.

Both drivers gave it their all, trading first and second places across both races with neither able to find an edge. Radford did not fold under the pressure, losing only 1 point in the round, and came out as the Am champion.

Another standout performance worth mentioning came from Aidan Howard, who took a double win in round three at Fuji. A dry first race was followed by a wet second race, where dicing through mixed strategies was no easy task.

Pro Championship

The Pro class was a different story. No driver was consistent enough to emerge as a clear title contender during the season, and the class produced six race winners of its own: Kieran Sharp, Adrian Borowski, Mav Gardner, Tom Davidson, Craig Twardoch and Andrew Pike.

The title was decided in dramatic fashion between Sharp and Borowski in the final round. After the first race it looked all but over for Sharp, who finished last in class after accumulating damage. However, luck went his way when Borowski made the wrong tyre choice, going for wets when the track had dried enough for slicks. It was a brutal reminder that the new points system punishes mistakes.

Towards the end of the season, Mav Gardner and Jori Schröer began challenging closer to the front, picking up race wins and podiums between them. It left some wondering whether they would have been in the title fight had they found that form earlier.

If you missed any of the action or want to relive the best moments, you can watch back the full season on the TCR World Tour YouTube playlist.

In the meantime, TSRC and oNiD can’t wait to resume racing with our next championship, the Porsche Cup (S2). See you on track!
