TSRC GT4 Series S3 Review

After nearly a full year away, TSRC returned for a third season of the GT4 Series on iRacing. During its absence, the GT4 class underwent significant changes, most notably the addition of the Ford Mustang GT4 and a full physics revision that introduced updated tyre and aerodynamic models. These updates made the cars more dynamic, placing a greater emphasis on mechanical grip over aerodynamics. As the season unfolded, the changes played a key role, with different cars proving stronger at various points.

Season Format & Calendar

Drivers were split into Pro and Am categories and competed across a six-week calendar featuring a variety of race formats designed to challenge the entire grid. The primary format consisted of a single 40-minute race with a mandatory pit stop, while selected sprint rounds featured two races of 15 and 25 minutes with no stops.

The championship visited a diverse mix of circuits, beginning at Oulton Park before heading to Mugello Circuit and Virginia International Raceway for the first sprint round. The season continued at Circuit Zolder, followed by Sonoma Raceway for the second sprint event, and concluded at the iconic Mount Panorama Circuit in Bathurst.

Both championships remained undecided until the final round, setting the stage for a dramatic conclusion in both classes.

Pro Championship

The Pro championship featured a highly competitive field of experienced drivers, with plenty of ups and downs across the season. However, one driver stood out for his remarkable consistency. Tom Davidson claimed multiple pole positions and race wins and ultimately secured the championship despite not being in attendance at the final round.

Finishing runner-up was Francesco Petterlin, who delivered his strongest championship campaign since joining the TSRC grid. He fought hard throughout the season, most notably at Virginia International Raceway, where he secured pole position, a race win, and a podium finish.

Several other drivers also deserve recognition. Jack Southfield, despite only participating in four rounds, produced a standout performance at Zolder, where he started at the back of the grid and fought his way through the field to claim second place in challenging wet conditions. Newcomer Alessandro Dalledonne from The Italian Job also showed promising pace towards the front of the grid and is certainly a driver to watch in future championships.

Am Championship

The Am championship proved just as dramatic, coming down to the wire between Mark Davenport and Bart Raven. Both drivers traded multiple wins and podiums throughout the season, setting up a decisive final race at Bathurst.

Mark Davenport claimed victory in the final race, while Bart Raven narrowly missed out by finishing second, losing the championship by just three points. This marked Mark’s first TSRC championship title, a significant achievement for the Manx driver and one that may not be his last.

Other notable performances in the Am class included Valerio Petretti, another newcomer from The Italian Job, who secured third place in the championship thanks in part to an impressive double sprint victory at Virginia International Raceway. Valerio Tedeschi also achieved one of his best TSRC championship results, finishing inside the top five during a chaotic round at Mugello.

Looking Ahead

With the GT4 Series Season 3 now complete, TSRC turns its attention to the next championship in the New Year. The upcoming driver swap series will feature the all-new Porsche 992.2 Cup car, introducing a fresh dynamic to the competition and promising another exciting championship for the TSRC community.

While preparations continue, all the action from the GT4 Series Season 3 is available to watch on the TSRC GT4 Series Season 3 YouTube playlist.
